And I heard a voice, saying "Build an ark!"

I'm not sure if this is the voice of God, or the voices in my head...but something is telling me that an ark should be built soon. It has rained for 16 days straight. I'm not going to complain. I'm not going to whine. I'm just gonna say if the Lord wants to wash away Oklahoma and wants mankind to start over again...does it really need to take THIS long??

My dress fitting was canceled last night. Mo, my tailor, isn't quite ready for me to try it on yet....which is fine. I have re-scheduled for next month when my BF is in town. She's been complaining that she hasn't gotten to do any wedding-related duties with me. Since this is a big one, she should be fairly happy. So, all's well that ends well.

I have no thrilling plans for the weekend...except waiting by the phone for BF's conference update. The pente conference is going on this weekend...and I'm sure she'll spot someone or something interesting! My goal for the weekend is to finish centerpiece/favors. I have a mere 138 left to go! Then, I need to transport all of them out of my house and into other houses, so I can have room to move! The cousins and BF are coming into town next weekend for my "friends" I've gotta clean up the place before they get lost in the abyss of pink and yellow hell!!...and I just got an email from a former co-worker, who said the girls at AF are throwing me a shower in a few weeks as well! Wow, I'm totally feeling loved! =) yeehaw!

All wedding stuff aside...I think this is going to be a very slow work day...It's 9:30 and the phone hasn't rang once. So, I might try to write a short story. We'll see how far that I get with that. Rojen asked what I do that requires mathemetical skills. I'm an aeronautical engineer for NASA. It is my job to calculate the latidunal longitude of the wing span of the shuttle. HA! Ok, I'm a funder for a bank's mortgage loan dept. The math I do, is quite elementary...addition and subtraction...but since i'm severly math retarded...even simple math is a challenge. =)

Have a great weekend, rat racers.

Sittin pretty...

I'm blogging from my very own desk, folks. Boy, does it feel good to be in my own space with own stuff. Aaah...I love it. The new job is great...a challenge for my mathematically retarded brain. It's nice to know that it's still working and well. ;)

I feel so disconnected from all of you, but I'll make up for lost time...don't you worry!!

Today is my first wedding dress fitting. Sadly, no one can come with me...but, maybe that's a blessing in disguise...cuz if it doesn't fit, no one has to fake niceties. I'm very close to finalizing my final 2 vendors, the favors are 60% completed, and Matt will be here in little over a month. Wowza...Time does fly when you're havin' fun.

Well, back to work...end of the month is pretty busy...more to come later! Stay tuned...

Rain, Rain...GO AWAY.

You know, I guess I'm glad I'm not a kid, who is stuck inside the house for my entire summer break. No, I'm an adult who spends the entire week inside of a building, but the Monsoon of 2007 is STILL annoying me beyond belief. I can't seem to figure out what is going on with this weather. I looked at today and it showed high chances of rain every day until the 4th of July!! Say it with me...Wong Tong Fong?!?

Furball and I are about to wage a riot at our apartment complex. We can no longer deal with the jacked up parking situation. I guess I should be grateful that I have a covered parking space. But, I'm not...because there's tons of red mud in it for some reason. And I have to be extra careful not to track it into the new car. Grrrr. It's not just the parking's that nothing gets fixed promptly...they expect prompt rent, but by God if there's a problem...the favor is not returned! We're thinking about typing up flyers, dressing in black, going out at night and sticking it on the doors of all our neighbors in order to rile everyone up so they will join us in our protest. Ok, so maybe the dressing and black and scurrying around out at night part was my idea...cuz i'm a coward and don't want the apartment management catching me in broad daylight. Once we get a few people concerned about the issues, we'll have a meeting...Furball will be the president, who calls everyone to attention to discuss concerns...and I'll be the one standing behind her saying "Yah!" emphatically!!!!!!! We'll see how far we get with this grand plan...

In other news...I feel completely disconnected. I never realized how dependant I was on email!! Maybe one of these days I'll have my own desk!!!! *Sigh*

just another weekend in PYH...

I've given my humble abode a new name..."PYH" (pink and yellow HELL!) My cordless phone has been missing for a week. Buried under ribbon and silk flowers, no doubt. I'm surrounded by pink and's everywhere I look!! I took some of the wedding crafts over to the Maternal Unit's today. She greeted me at the door with, "Where am I supposed to put that?" I quickly reminded her that she has 3 bedrooms and a garage...whereas I just have one bedroom and a MOUSSE. She then let me through the door.

Speaking of Mousse...I feel terrible that I'm totally neglecting my pup these days. But, between putting together cupcake boxes and the other jabillion tasks I have to do, she's slowly slipping off my priority list. Although, she's clinging on for dear life. Since we're having monsoons in OKC, I'm even finding it difficult to take her out on our one on one bonding walks. The guilt is eating me alive.

On a happier note...I got my Honda Fit this weekend!! She's beau-tee-ful! I love her. She's a blazing I'm now easy to spot around town. Les asked me what I was gonna name her...and I said "Blueberry."...She suggested "Sueberry," which I thought was simply brilliant. Especially since everyone and their dog has been telling me she's such a Sue-like car. At this point, i'm not sure if that's a compliment or an insult...

I hope this week goes by fasssssssssssst. My first dress fitting is on Thursday. I'm frightened....

How I've Missed Thee...

The good news is...well, there's two good "newses"...1. It's FRIDAY! Yeehaw. This has been a super fast week for me...what with 2 glorious days of absolutely no work. I mean, work-work, that is. I had plenty of wedding work to do...but, that was fun. 2. I can blog from work. =) The bad news is...I don't have my own desk just yet, so blogging from work won't be quite as frequently as I might like until maybe next week...if I'm lucky.

So far, I am really enjoying the job. I'm sure that is because it's new and there's a lot to learn. I'm worried about making friends...but, I guess time will tell. My boss seems very cool, so that's a plus as well. I think it was a good move for regrets.

This weekend Billy and I will be looking into getting tuxes for the groomsmen...and of course, I'll be working on the 400 centerpiece/favors I have to make. If you live in the OKC area and are interested in helping a sista out....leave me a message in the comment box below. ;)

In other news...The Furball and I have abandoned Wednesday night TV since LOST is off air. Instead, we have this mission to try new "cultural" restaurants once a week. Once we've covered all the culturals, we just intend to just visit new restaurants. Last night we went to an Ethiopian place called Queen of Sheba. We both rated the place a 6. The ambience was great, but the service was super slow. The food was very oil-liscous and the bread reminded me of dosas...which i find utterly disgusting. Next week is Japanese...maybe that will be a little better.

Ever wonder what happens to a really old pear? I'll tell you...cuz I found one in my lunch bag. It was unrecognizable...shriveled and turned into dust, basically. Highly interesting... ;)

Have a great weekend, rat racers!

Wednesday, June 20, 2007

I haven't forgotten about you, Rat Racers. My last day at AF was Monday, and I was off Tuesday and today...but, never fear. I am still here to provide you with exactly 1 minute and 22 seconds of entertainment for your work day.

I haven't been sleeping in and kicking my heels up at the pool. This could be cuz CCL called me at friggin' 7 am yesterday morning...and I had doctors to visit and errands to run. It's just been nice to actually have time to catch up on things. I actually did have the pleasure of picking my nephew up from preschool today. He excitedly told me about the candy he got from his teacher...oh, AND the nifty glow-in-the-dark bracelet. He also told me he had "gwapes" for lunch. And when I asked what he learned in school, he said, "I don't know. I can't wemember."
Lol...He IS afterall...a Varghese. ;)

I'm not neither nervous nor anxious about the new job I start on Thursday. My only concerns are..will I still have acess to blogspot?!? and will I have the privacy/freedom to blog?!? I surely hope so.

Until Thursday, Rat Racers...

Friday, June 15, 2007

Last night was interesting. I went over to Sunu's to teach Sandy Aunty how to make buffalo chicken salad. While, Sunu was mixing the greens...Sandy Aunty had a brilliant idea..."Hey, that chicken would taste good with that salad." Sunu and I looked at her quizically and until we finally saw the light in her head turn on. "ohhhh, yah. We're making it FOR the salad!"

I realized that I'm going to really miss sitting around their kitchen table...just the 3 of us...while they laugh hysterically at whatever nonsense comes flying out of my mouth. I know I'm not dying...just getting I'll still be around there will still be such occasions. But, I guess they just won't be as frequent. I can honestly say...that although I whined for the most part during my single years...I've had a lot of fun. Fun didn't really entail lots wild craziness, but it did entail lotssssssss of laughing and other random hijinx. ;)
Anyhoo, I had a bit of a dilemma this morning. My car was smoking like a chimney when i got to work. I pretty much guessed this wasn't a very good sign. When Damon, my colleague called me, he could sense the panic in my voice and asked what was wrong. "Car...hood...smoke...scared." ...that's about all I was able to muster out. Ever the good friend, he came to my rescue with oil in one hand and radiator fluid in the other. At lunch, I will attempt to start the car, and will pray that it does not blow up. =/

The weekend is upon us. I have plans to take the kid cousin out for bday/grad festivities. We might have to swim to our destination though...You know, at first I was really worried about it raining all summer. but now, I'm just really worried that it's going to rain for the rest of my life. what in the world is with this weather?!?

Tomorrow night I'm going to go watch the Broadway play in OKC..."Wicked"...I've been excited about it since March!

J. Banana and Mikey will become husband and wife this weekend. Jana, enjoy your day...I hope it's filled with lots of happiness and love. I know your pictures will be amazing, and I simply can't wait to see them. So, post soon! I'm so ecstatic for you!

A steal of a deal for only a buck!

Now that I've gotten my camera back from my aunt's house and finally uploaded my pictures, I can finally talk about my weekend. Monday seems so long ago...I can't seem to remember what all I discussed already, soooo I'll just start over.

Friday night, Miss Ansley Ann came down from Houston to join us Okies for Les's graduation celebration. The girls came and had dinner at my house and we cussed and discussed over some chore and curry. I don't cook Indian food frequently, so I wasn't sure how it would compare to their mothers' seasoned cooking skills. But the girls, said I did a good job, so I was relieved.

Saturday, Ansley hung out with me while Ash and Les went to a wedding here in town. We went to the Maternal Unit's to say a quick hello, but ended up staying there for a few hours. My brother's friend JB was there and we started discussing garage sales. Next thing I knew, we were in the car and circling the neighborhood for one. We stopped by one and JB found me a 1991 Pearl Jam CD that was in mint condition. It was a steal of a deal for only a buck! I love it and now listen to it every night!!! After the stresses of the day, it puts me in a mellow mood.

Afterwards, Ansley and I went to several craft stores looking for ribbon and flowers for my wedding craft projects. In between those stops we treated ourselves to Coldstone Creamery's Birthday Cake Remix....a little bit o' heaven in a cup! Lastsly, we went to the mall to look for...........WEDDING BANDS! I ordered Matt's, but have yet to find mine. I felt like I needed more time to think about what I really want since it's going to be on my finger for a lifetime.

Sunday was Les's graduation party. It was a good time...she made a killing! Tomorrow night I'm taking her out for her graduation and birthday festivities! So here's an early birthday shout out to Leslie Ann...Happpppppppppppppppppppy 18th Birthday.

Les in her outfit picked out by cousin Turbo (aka Matt), Ansley, Me, and Ash. I may be the oldest, but I"m the shortest. BOOOOO!

Me and Ashley like this shot of us, but had to cut the other two out cuz one looked like she was smelling fart and the other looked like she was doing the gangster nod...

Missa and Andrew

Well, today is going to be a bittersweet day for me. My pals on the 6th floor are taking me out for a goodbye lunch. We haven't technically worked together in 6 years, but we've maintained our friendship despite that minor technicality. They have always been my family here at AFA no matter how far I strayed away from them. Although I'm happy to be moving on to broader pastures, I'm sad that I won't be able to run into them in the elevators or steal quick hugs in the halls. But, something tells me that my place in life will hardly hinder our friendships....Afterall, the Furball and I worked together 15 years ago and we're STILL friends. ;)

Speaking of FRIENDS....Bridesmaids Chapter 5...the last chapter...

Our history begins at Western Heights High School back in 1991. She sat at her end of the classroom and I sat at my end. She says our lack of communication was all my fault. Something about me not wanting to acknowledge the fact that I was an Indian. I say that's hogwash. I was intimidated by Indians back then...Well, Indian girls, I should say. With the guys, I was just one of the guys...but Indian girls had a way of staring into the core of you, examining if your bangs had the right amount of "poof", if your jeans were french rolled correctly, and if your cole haans were real or Dexters. So, I didn't wanna have anything to do with Indian girls....which included Sunu.

Never in a zillion years would I have thought that Sunu and I would become inseparable friends. She has seen me through some very tough times...helped me when I had no one else to turn to...and been my "date" to every social function for the past several years. With her, I know I can be my true self and tell her what I'm really thinking (even if she may not like it)....with out ever having the feeling of being judged.

Making new friends is great...but having old ones that know the core of you and love you despite your differences is even better!

I was trying to save my next post until I got my camera from my aunt's house, so I could post pictures from the weekend. but, it looks like I won't be able to go over there till later this week. =/

Meanwhile Bridesmaids Chapter 4 awaits....
Cousin Susan.

Growing up we were always Susan T and Susan V...and even though she's no longer a T and pretty soon I won't be a V...something tells me that we will have these names till the end. As a child she was the most loved of the cousins. She really knew how to charm adults with her baby talk and natural cuteness. She even had a way of charming me and Lisa into washing the dishes for her while she kicked up her heels and watched young and the restless. We tried to make Lisa jealous of the fact that we were cousins on both our mother and father's sides...but, Lis never cared...or so she says!

It's surprising that neither of us ended up in the state pen... But, thankfully God changed her interest in breaking the law into studying the law...and today she's not only a law-abiding citizen, but a lawyer.

we are opposites in many ways...height, weight, interests, our positions on the sensitivity curve, etc. etc...but we've learned over the years to accept each other for the quirky individuals that we are. =)

I'm bringing chubby back...

You know you're old when you discover T-Pain's song, "I wanna buy you a train" is really "I wanna buy you a drank." It makes so much more sense now!!! Who'd wanna train? It's Friday, the weather is gorgeous, and I'm totally ready to get this weekend started!! My place is in complete disarray right now. Shines was ever-so-nice enough to come over and help me put the headboard he gave me together, but he forgot some essential nuts and bolts. Therefore, I slept on the couch last night while Mousse paced the entire night wandering why in the heck we both were NOT as snug as a bug in a rug in my bed. Yes, the mongrel has been sleeping on my bed occasionally. She hates the kennel. I'm contemplating getting rid of it...and perhaps buying her a fluffy dog bed to put in the living room. We'll see how that works. There's just not enough space in the room for a bed, a dresser, a computer, a dog, a kennel, and humans. something's gotta go.

A random thought...OKC is JUST NOW PLAYING Justin Timberlake's "Summer Love" on the radio...saying it's a new release! Meanwhile, I decide to remake his "I'm bringing sexy back" to "I'm bringing chubby back." Do you think that will fly?

Anyway, it's time for Bridesmaids Chapter 3!!! By the way, we're down to the double digits today...99 more days!

CCL...also known as Lisa.

The stories and memories are endless with this one. They start from when we were wee little kids, who jumped on the bed and sang Annie bigger kids who dugs our nails (or in my case, skin) into each others arms when we teenagers who wrote letters that were pages upon pages of nonsense and sent them via snail young adults who came home late after fokana and hid from her mom....(oh wait it was lisa and susantee who hid and me who was left to face the music) adults, who still have the same relationship dynamics as we did when we were kids...

To discuss all the crazy ways in which she has tormented me...or in her words..."taught me to grow a spine"...would take days. I never quite measured up to be the tough cookie that she is...but, I don't think this family can handle more than one tough cookie...

When Lisa was getting married, she wrote Susan and me an email...which I still have today. In it, she asked us both to be her maids of her words, she couldn't go through the day without both Susans by her side. Similarly, I couldn't go through the day without CCL by my side. We've been a huge part of each other's lives...Now it's time for me to insert something totally cheezy that she would completely mock and disapprove of....Cousins by birth...friends by choice. ;)

Bridesmaids Chapter 2, 100 days, and birthdays!

Before I get into Bridesmaid Chapter 2, I have a birthday shout out to the one and only...creator of "My 2 Cents", Matty. I haven't spent quality time with him in a longgggggg time...nor have I talked about anything in depth with him a longgggggggggg time... I understand that he's really busy with work and furthering his edumacation...oh and hanging out with the shepherds...but nevertheless, he's always in my thoughts and in my prayers. Happy Birthday, Matty...i hope you get what your heart desires! While we're talking about Matties...let me share the most recent picture of my Matty...He was sporting a shirt I bought him, and I think he looks extra cutey cute in it. ;) 100 more days until our wedding day!!!

Now, on to Bridesmaid Chapter 2 Sonia, My BF...MOH #2. I'm not quite sure when Sonia and I stumbled upon each other and decided that we should be friends. We're like the odd couple...complete opposites...She smiles bearing her entire grill, my smile is a frown, she talks LOUD, i'm soft spoken, she's a listener in conversations, I'm more of a talker, she's a social butterfly, I'm shy, she's a soap opera junkie, and I prefer well-written drama..yada, yada...the list continues. But we do have certain things in common like our undying love for JC's chocolate cake and our burning passion for pepperoni pizza with extra cheese....ohhh... and our mutual respect, love, and concern for each other.;)

I have puhhhh-lenty of funny/embarrassing/humiliating stories about Sonia that I could share with the world wide web...but she currently has some blackmail info on me, that she could release...and therefore, I will not even go there. =) So, I'll just end Chapter 2 by saying...I have a great BF...she cries when I cry...she laughs when I laugh...she's the best secret keeper I've ever known...she listens to my incessant with my anal retentiveness...and she never complains!

Bridesmaids...Chapter 1

So, now that I've released all my exciting news, I don't have much to blog about. I thought I would use this time to introduce the world wide web to my bridesmaids...First up, one of my 2 MOH's...

My older sister. I feel akward calling her my big sister...cuz she's a twig, and I've been bigger than her for much of my life. If you don't know her, she comes off as this really quiet, mature, solemn individual. If you DO know her, and have played any type of board game with her, you know the truth. She's a wolf in sheep's clothing...a tongue lashing from her is worse than a thousand whips.

Growing up, she totally took care of me...made sure I knew how to dunk my chocolate chip cookies in milk to achieve the perfect amount of choco-soggyness, braided my hair in two pigtails till i was 15, and constantly reminded me to "pull my pants up." (she shoulda just told my mom to buy me a belt!) I'm sure cousin Lisa could share many memories about Beena as well...the summers filled with rationed cherry seven-up and daily servings of chef boyardee while in her care.

Now that we're adults, our relationship hasn't changed a bit. I'm still looking for any reason to poke fun at her...and Lord knows there's never a shortage of reasons to do so, but now my attempts are fueled by the laughter of my nephew. He keeps me inspired to keep going.

All jokes aside...cuz I could go on for days...She's a good sister, who gives sound advice...a person with tons of inner strength...and has served as a great example of what kind of mother I want to be some day.

Happy birthday to my main squeeze! Sadly, he can't be here to enjoy birthday festivities with me this year...but next year we're gonna have a hugeeeeeeeeeeee birthday bash to celebrate his first birthday in the good ol' usa! Matt, my birthday wish for that this new year of your life will bring you many reasons to SMILE!
Happy birthday shout outs to my good friend and wedding coordinator, Sybil too. I guess all the cool crew was born in June ;)

Last night was Nancy's welcome to OKC party. I think she might have gone home and bought a one way ticket back to NYC after all the shenanigans. But, I must was a good time....hopefully she thought so too.
Nancy and Piper...

The goof troop singing Oooooooooklahoma!
Syb's most awesome creation...the ok.ahoma icecream cake. I didn't realize that it was cut to the shape of Oklahoma. I thought someone just cut a piece to try it. I didn't realize it was oklahoma till i uploaded the picture...i'm not too bright.
Finz and my pwecious babies...Micahji and my snugglebug, Alexis
DJ Flippy Flip and SunuLast but not least, my announcement:
I GOT A NEW JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yesterday I put my official 2 weeks notice in. My last day at AF after 8 years...will be on the 18th. A year ago, I was looking for a job relentlessly, lookin for love, lookin for a new place to live...and I thought I'd NEVER find any of it. I thought I'd keep chasing my tail, never progress... But, God in His infinite wisdom new all along who and what and where was best for me....and then gave it to me ALL AT ONCE! 2007 IS my year...and that's by God's grace alone. I know there are a lot of people who read this blog who are struggling to find their place in the world, their soul mates, their purpose....I just want to encourage those of you who feel discouraged. I've been in that spot...and all you can do is keep moving, keep trying, keep seeking...because you will find. But, just let go and let God...Even when you don't think you deserve the best...He knows you do and He won't give you anything less than that.

I have some news that I'm just literally BUSTING at the seams to tell!! But, I just can't release it to the world wide web just yet. Stay tuned for full details tomorrow...
Until then, enjoy a few pictures from the weekend...
First, an adorably cute Landon. I haven't seen him in weeks and I was missing him Sunday, so I popped in for a visit. He's GROWN!! He's so tall, but has lost some of his baby chub. He was being extra sweety sweet to me...showering me with kisses!!
Me and my pretty boy...

me and Les...we were sportin' the same colors, so I thought it'd make for a cute picture. Not sure why...but people were callin' me lady bug on Sunday. ;)

The Perfect FIT...

I found the car of my dreams....Yesterday, after discovering my car was making a weird sound, I came to the realization that I do indeed need a new car. There's no way I'm giving up "Old Faithful," my CRV...but, what with Matt's arrival, I will definitely need 2 cars in the Vee-soon-to-be-Tee household. I was browsing the site and discovered that Honda makes a new car....called the Fit. My eyes widened and I simply fell in love! I think the most important thing is that my new car be reliable (nothing can beat Honda reliability) and cost effective. I discussed the new car of my dreams with the Maternal Unit and SunuA. My mom stated her distaste, but knows that inevitably, my taste will prevail. SunuA said, "you're that certain jathi that would like that car" For those of you who don't know what "jathi" means creature. I figured that if she was calling me most likely meant she didn't like the car. I was convinced she hadn't seen one properly because they're hardly ever seen on the road. Since we were on our way to our buddy Shines's house, I insisted we pull the car up on his computer, so she could take a gander. We pull up to his house...and lo' and behold....a Honda Fit was sitting in front of his driveway!!!!!!! It happened to be owned by one of his friends. SunuA still thinks I have weird taste, but Shines fueled my desire to get the car by reassuring me that the Fit is a perfect fit for me!

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayer today. A new opportunity has presented itself for me. I'm not even sure if it will pan out or not, but the thought of it panning out makes me realllllllllllllllllllllllllly nervous. It will require taking a step of faith into the unknown. And although I hate where I'm at right now, I'm comfortable and safe....very safe. I don't want to make a decision that might jeopardize my security.

Weekend plans...tomorrow I will be out furniture shopping with my mom. I will grin and bear it in hopes of getting her old stuff, which isn't in bad shape and works quite well for me. Other than that, more laundry...bleh!...addressing envelopes, yada and yada. I feel like this month will fly by.......3 more months, 106 more days.......
